Chamber Ensemble

The GBRT Chamber Ensemble welcomes musicians of all ages to come and join us. Performing fantastic arrangements of classical works and folk songs, we are on the lookout for new members.

Membership of the ensemble is open to all ages, whether school age or adult, you simply need to be at least of a Grade 4 standard with the ability to read and play music fluently.

When & Where?
The rehearsals take place fortnightly, in term time, on Tuesday evenings at the Old Grammar School on the High Street in Market Harborough.  We will start promptly at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm.  All rehearsal dates are provided on the GBRT Chamber Ensemble 2015 Rehearsal Dates, GBRT Chamber Ensemble 2016 Rehearsal Dates and GBRT Chamber Ensemble 2017 Rehearsal Dates schedules.

Which Instruments?
Brass:             Trumpets, French Horns, Trombones, Tuba
Wind:              Flutes(Piccolo), Clarinets, Oboes (Cor Anglais), Bassoons
String:             Violins, Violas, Cellos, Double Basses
Percussion:   Piano, Tuned Percussion

Kathryn Cartwright Our Musical Director
Kathryn works as a freelance solo, chamber and orchestral flautist and has performed at numerous venues throughout the UK and abroad.  After she gained her BMus and Fellowship, Kathryn went onto study for her Post Graduate Performance Diploma and her FLCM in Flute Performance.

In addition to performing in West End Shows, playing with various chamber ensembles, performing and recording new works for composers including: Cecelia McDowall, Kit Turnbull, Nigel Clark, Martin Ellerby, Paul Max Edlin and Roxanna Panufnik, she has performed extensively in the UK and Southern Ireland and also in France, Norway, Germany, Hong Kong and Australia. Her regular playing has been with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway and the Barcelona Opera House Orchestra. Kathryn’s freelance work includes performances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, New London Sinfonietta and West London Opera.

Kathryn enjoys a balanced life of performing, teaching, adjudicating and examining around the UK in her capacity as a Trinity College London music examiner.

What Does It Cost? 
Fees are payable one term in advance:  £35 per term (£30 for school students). Please use the bank details on the Rehearsal Dates Schedule above to set-up an automatic payment into the GBRT account on the dates specified.

How Do I Join?
Simply complete the Chamber Ensemble Registration Form and send it before the date you wish to start.
