Well done to all of the GBRT Junior X Factor 2018 Finalists. After a high quality and closely fought Finals concert on Saturday 10th March the prize winners were as follows:

Overall 1st Place:
Katie Marshall (Voice) who performed O mio babbino caro from Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini

Overall 2nd Place:
Gabriel Smith (Voice) who performed Waspish Tango from The Bees Knees by Matthew Milner

Overall 3rd Place:
Lottie Timson (Voice and Guitar)
who performed Breezeblocks by alt-J

Most Promising Instrumentalist:  Boris Dring (Piano)

Most Promising Vocalist: Lily Hall 

Best Original Composition: MaxX Milner (Voice and Guitar) for his original song What I’d Do

Heat Winners:

Prizes:

  • Each category winner will receive £25 of MH Music vouchers
  • Overall winner will receive an additional £50 of MH Music vouchers, a recording studio session at Studio 34 and £250 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Overall second place will receive £50 of MH Music vouchers and £150 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Overall third place will receive £25 of MH Music vouchers and £150 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Most promising vocalist will receive £150 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Most promising instrumentalist will receive finance £150 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Composition prize of £50 MH Music vouchers for the best original composition
  • Overall first, second and third places and most promising vocalist and instrumentalist will receive engraved glass trophies.

 

Our Panel Members:

John Dilleigh

John has been accompanying for more than fifty years and has performed in several European countries and Sudan. With a particular interest in vocal music he has worked with numerous vocal ensembles and has partnered with many wonderful vocal soloists. He is proud to be the long standing accompanist for the GBRT Adult Vocal Choir and previously the Youth Vocal Choir and so far has toured Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium and Italy with them.

Andrea Possee

Andrea is a professional composer who writes for film, TV, games and trailers. She a member of BAFTA crew where she is mentored by BAFTA winners and has been invited to be on the panel to judge best music in a UK TV series for the prestigious Ivor Novello awards in 2018.  To date she has scored two feature films Catskin, and ‘The Devil’s Rock’ (NZ film council, special FX by WETA workshop) where she received nominations for best score in several film festivals in the US. Andrea’s music has appeared in TV shows like ‘About A Boy’ (NBC), ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ 4music (Worldwide), ‘Building Dream Homes’ (ITV), ’Come Dine with Me’ (Channel 4), ‘This Morning’ (ITV), ‘Bad Robots’ (Channel 4) and ‘Tales of Northumberland’ with Robson Green’ ITV.

Debbie Smith

Debbie Smith grew up in Suffolk and very soon became a successful vocalist and instrumental musician. In her teens she was tutored by a number of renowned experts, including the opera singer Rae Woodland. Having set her sights on a career in music she studied classical music at the Trinity Conservatoire in London, with voice as first study and piano as second.

Since completing her studies Debbie has lived in the Market Harborough area and has been a successful tutor (with her own teaching business), musical director and performer. Over the last three decades she has successfully tutored students in a number of schools as part of the Leicestershire Arts in Education team, as a private tutor at home and at Robert Smyth and Welland Park Academies, at Woodcock Theatre Arts South Leicestershire Performing Arts Academy and has directed vocal workshops for all ages.
