Now the judges have listened to over 4 hours of heat auditions (1 person every 7 minutes), we can reveal that after a very high quality, closely fought competition, the winners of the GBRT Junior X Factor 2017 are below. Junior X Factor 2016 Finalists

Congratulations
A huge achievement just reaching the finals AND also well done to everyone who has taken part as we understand how much work goes into rehearsing for a competition like this.

Heat Winners
For the heats the entrants were divided into three categories by school age.  The heat winners were as follows:

School Years 10-13 Katie Marshall (Voice)
School Years 7-9     Ione Banks (Voice)
School Years 1-6     Zach Ball (Voice and Guitar)

Overall Winners
We are delighted to announce that the overall Finals winners were as follows:

Overall 1st Place:    Ria Cousins (Voice) who performed One by One by Queen
Overall 2nd Place:     Katie Marshall (Voice) who performed Ave Maria by Bach Gounod
Overall 3rd Place:     Ione Banks (Voice) who performed Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen

Most Promising Musicians
In addition to the prizes awarded above, we also presented prizes to the Most Promising Musicians on the night which were as follows:

Most Promising Instrumentalist: Naomi Benson (Cello)
Most Promising Vocalist:          Will Rodger

Junior X Factor 2018

Plans are already under way for the 2018 competition.  We would like to encourage ALL young musicians up to the age of 18 who sing or play an instrument either as a soloist or in a group or band to come and take part. New for 2018 will be a prize for the best original composition.

Categories and dates:

  • Heats:       2nd - 4th  March 2018              Great Bowden Village Hall
  • Finals:       Saturday 10th March 2018      Jubilee Hall, Congregational Church, Bowden Lane, MH

The only criteria are as follows:

  • Living within 20 miles of Market Harborough
  • Vocal and instrumental competition
  • Individuals and groups permitted
  • Multiple entries into each category is permitted but not on the same instrument
  • One piece to be performed at the audition up to 5 minutes in length
  • CD backing track or unaccompanied auditions only are permitted
  • 48 hours after each heat, those who have won a place in the finals will be published on this website
  • Judges decisions are final
  • No audio or visual recording are permitted of any of the auditions or performances

Prizes – new for 2018:

  • Each category winner will receive £25 of MH Music vouchers
  • Overall winner will receive an additional £100 of MH Music vouchers and £200 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Overall second place will receive £50 of MH Music vouchers and £150 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Overall third place will receive £25 of MH Music vouchers and £150 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Most promising vocalist will receive £150 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Most promising instrumentalist will receive finance £150 of music lessons funded by GBRT
  • Composition prize of £50 MH Music vouchers for the best original composition
  • Overall first, second and third places and most promising vocalist and instrumentalist will receive engraved glass trophies

Registration:
Simply print, complete and send the GBRT Junior X Factor 2018 Registration Form to the address at the end of the form by Wednesday 14th February 2018 at the latest and you will be contacted within 48 hours of this date with your audition time.
