GBRT Sax Choir

Calling all local saxophonists with a desire to play in the first permanent sax choir in Leicestershire. This is your opportunity to rehearse and perform with like-minded musicians of all ages – come and join the brand new GBRT Sax Choir.
Who?
Membership of the choir is open to all ages, whether school age or adult, you simply need to be able to read music fluently.
When And Where?
Rehearsals will take place fortnightly on Sunday mornings at Great Bowden Village Hall (near Market Harborough) from 10am until 12 noon. All rehearsal dates and venues are provided on the GBRT Sax Choir 2010 Rehearsal Dates or GBRT Sax Choir 2011 Rehearsal Dates schedules.

Lluis Mather is a versatile saxophonist studying in the fourth and final year of a very successful time at Brimingham Conservatoire, which has recently seen him win the ‘David Holland Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Ensemble Award 2009’ – an award given to the most original and outstanding ensemble.
He is a senior member of the internationally acclaimed MYJO (Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra) who have won the BBC National Big Band Competition eleven times. With MYJO, he has performed alongside many outstanding musicians including Derek Nash, Larry Morgan, Gary Williams, Alan Barnes, Bruce Adams, Marlene VerPlack, Ian McDougal, Stan Sultzman, Jacqui Dankworth, Ken Peplowski, Paul Sawtell, Bill Coleman, Andy McKintosh, Annie Whitehead and Dave O’Higgins.
In 2008, he toured with Norma Winstone, Kenny Wheeler and the CUK Big Band to the IAJE Jazz Conference (Toronto, Canada) where he played amongst other prominent young British jazz musicians.

What Does It Cost?
Fees will be payable termly in advance and will be charged at: Full time students £35 per term. Adults £45 per term.
How Do I Join?
For practical reasons, it is only possible to join the Sax Choir on the first rehearsal of each term, i.e. after the summer break, after the Christmas/New Year holiday and after the Easter holiday. Simply, download, complete and return the Sax Choir Registration Form.
